THE LAST DAYS OF OBAMA'S ADMINISTRATION

When President Barack Obama emerged to greet a massive, cheering audience at the cavernous McCormick Place convention center in Chicago on January 10, he was looking to the path ahead and reflecting about the legacy he was leaving behind. "It falls to each of us to be those anxious, jealous guardians of our democracy," the President said. "To embrace the joyous task we've been given to continually try to improve this great nation of ours." But before he uttered the words that will go down in history as his final address to the nation, his speechwriting team had to answer one, massive crucial question: What on Earth should the president even say? CNN Films was allowed unique access into that conversation and other moments rarely seen by the public as part of a new documentary, "The End: Inside the Last Days of the Obama White House." The film picks up right after the November 8 election, which ushered in Donald J. Trump as America's president ele...

stupid' people think warm ties with Russia are a bad thing_Trump

Image
President-elect Donald Trump is continuing to resist conclusions reached by US intelligence agencies on Russian involvement in the 2016 election, and on Saturday defended his long-held belief that closer ties with Russia would be good for the US. Trump's comments come one day after he received intelligence stating that the Russian government hacked Democratic Party groups and individuals during the election, and that Moscow acted to hurt Hillary Clinton's campaign to benefit Trump."Having a good relationship with Russia is a good thing, not a bad thing. Only 'stupid' people, or fools, would think that it is bad, We have enough problems around the world without yet another one. When I am President, Russia will respect us far more than they do now and both countries will, perhaps, work together to solve some of the many great and pressing problems and issues of the WORLD!" Putin should not be trusted_ Obama warns

Image
Washington (CNN)President Barack Obama says he's concerned about Republican commentators who appear to side with Russia over the US, saying Russian President Vladimir Putin should not be trusted. "What is true is that the Russians intended to meddle and they meddled," Obama told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos in an interview that aired Friday. "One of the things I am concerned about is the degree to which we've seen a lot of commentary lately where there are Republicans or pundits or cable commentators who seem to have more confidence in Vladimir Putin than fellow Americans because those fellow Americans are Democrats." "That cannot be," Obama insisted. Asked if he was describing President-elect Donald Trump, Obama demurred. read more click

Bitcoin fell to as low as $888.99 Thursday before inching back to $957.54. The digital currency hit a record $1,161.89 Wednesday, according to Bloomberg data, thanks to continued adoption in China and other parts of the world where traditional currencies are tightly controlled. “Bitcoin appears to be coming off the highs as traders are taking their gains after the sharp appreciation over the last few days and weeks,” Gil Luria, an analyst at Wedbush Securities, said in an e-mail. Bitcoin is also reacting to a rally in the Chinese yuan, which just posted a record two-day run-up offshore. In the past, as the value of yuan -- and other fiat currencies, such as Indian rupee -- went down, some Chinese put their money into bitcoin to preserve their savings. “Its run-up has been broadly correlated with the weakness i...
