Co-president of Fox News resigns

In the latest shake-up at Fox News, Bill Shine, the co-president of the network and one of its longest-serving executives, has resigned.

Shine will depart in the next several weeks after helping with a transition, the network said in a statement, which also announced a management restructuring.

Shine is the most recent casualty of the scandals that have already claimed former chairman and chief executive Roger Ailes and top on-air personality Bill O’Reilly.

“Bill has played a huge role in building Fox news to its present position as the nation’s biggest and most important cable channel in the history of our industry. His contribution to our channel and our country will resonate for many years.”Rupert Murdoch, executive chairman of 21st Century Fox and chief executive of Fox News

Shine and Jack Abernethy were promoted to co-presidents of the news network last year after the departure of Ailes, who resigned amid allegations he sexually harassed multiple women at the channel. O’Reilly exited last month after also being accused of sexual harassment. Both men have denied any wrongdoing.

In lawsuits, some Fox News talent and former executives have alleged that Shine ignored complaints of bad behavior by Ailes and enabled an environment that is hostile to women to flourish.

21st Century Fox and News Corp., parent company of The Wall Street Journal, share common ownership.

Abernethy will remain a co-president of Fox News. Longtime programming chief Suzanne Scott has been named president of programming, and Jay Wallace, executive vice president of news, has been promoted to president of news.
